You Learn
You Learn - Alanis Morissette
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone
I recommend walking around naked in your living room
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
I recommend biting off more then you can chew to anyone
I certainly do
I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free
Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway)
The fire trucks are coming up around the bend
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
You grieve you learn
You choke you learn
You laugh you learn
You choose you learn
You pray you learn
You ask you learn
You live you learn

The view
I lurrve sitting here at the so-called ex - CC now :D Its bootiful outside my window..the rain is coming down in sheets. I wish I could curl up with a book and sip a hot cup of kapi and enjoy lookin out once in a while. Not that I don't do that already!! :D
My palm tree sways with the wind and tis gossamer rain from here. The corner is cool because of the air con and there is no harsh tubelite on. I want to dance in the rain. Feel it on every inch of my body. I feel free like something within me has changed. I heard the thunder thru my Pink Floyd gaana bajaoing on my earfones.
Seeing the rain makes me feel happy. I feel like I have been parched and wandering through some desert (all untrue but I take literary license) I like the feeling within me and there is so much hope within me for what the future is going to bring. I cannot wait for a new adventure to start!
My mood right now - doesnt match the weather outside :D

Death by the Wayside and Other Solitary Lines
Death by the wayside, ghosts walking home.
Quietness in existence, noise on parole.
Unfathomed sanity, madness under control.
Light at the end of the tunnel is love.
The inimitable autobiography of a moment.
Life cannot be proved by mathematics.
Kisses or butterflies?
Polka dots or holes in a pocket?
Possibilities or probabilities?
No key to open the drawer of tomorrow.
No key to lock the drawer of yesterday.
Burning the candle at both the ends.
The ball of wool runs down the floor and untangles itself, breaks free from its carefully constructed tangles.
Let go.

'Better Together'
There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together
Mmmm, It's always better when we're together
Yeah we'll look at them stars and we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah it's always better when we're together
And all of these moments
just might find their way into my dreams tonight,
But I know that they’ll be gone
when the morning light sings
and brings new things
for tomorrow night you see
that they’ll be gone too,
too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way
into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression
i was somewhere in between
With only two,
Just me and you,
Not so many things we got to do
or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree, now,
Yeah It's always better when we're together
Mmmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
I believe in memories
they look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
you look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
There is no, no song I could sing
and there is no combination of words I could say
but I will still tell you one thing

Good article at Reuters..Read more here about how the hijab worn in Turkey acts a deterrent..
My weekend
Friday nite - drinks with P n S. Good time had by all concerned. Drinks, smoke filled atmosphere (why the fuck do they never have an vent for these places?) and excellent conversation. Yes we actually managed to have good conversation inspite of the music playing so freaking loud. So much salsa-ish music they played..nice it be!
Sat was supposed to go to KC to finish up some stuff but Mom was too tired..so ended up staying home..which meant doing DD things- go to bank, bond with idiotic bank man, go to the laundry (we pay a frigging fortune to him - bet he has bought that house in Shankara colony with our money) and go to Amrut (who does free delivery btw - so why I go is beyond me - its one of those existentialist questions I have stopped asking). Made dal for lunch and then skipped the afternoon snooze.
Went for salsa and had a disastrous class...did so much crap..messed steps completely..blehpfft it was! Went to SB's house with V. Dee of course skipped (gee wot a surprise!) Am seeing her after absolute ages..met RR and M. M is going away in sometime (I shall miss him dearly). RR was in an insane mood that day- have never seen him like that..nice it was..
V n SB bonded over crappy Hindi movies and the extent of their knowledge stuns me..they both knew some song from some Mithun movie called Guru with Sridevi doing double role..The lyrics of the song (they sang this btw) went something like "Mein bad boy, tu bad girl, humara kya hoga anjaam" or some such thing anyways...total JC material I tell ya!
Oh, yes another highlight was going to Monza..the wine boutique there was nice...I had like a 5-10 min conversation with the owner dude there about wines and wine holders..excellent wine options they have though. Should go there if you want to get a good choice of wines - they have wines from France, NZ, Australia and Germany :D
Also, I watched tele after a long time. Oh man, we watched some total shit on tele. In order:
Then a really young looking fellow (I am informed this is Udit Narayan's son) came on screen. He did some yapping. Then this chik called Mouli walks in. She is from Houston, USA. Ummarican accent and she luuuuurves Sallu of course. She is wearing small skirt, small top and glares (aargh) She says with Ummarican accent, "I dedicate song to Mr Salman Khan - the coolest dude". End of song, " I would like to give u a hug" Mr Khan says, " Sweetheart, I would like to too!!" and they hug each other (By this time I am crying too)
2.Sun TV- I really am not watching television anymore. Silk Smitha came on screen. She literally lit up the screen. I watched stunned/gobsmacked/horrified/mindboggled as she and Kamal Hasan contorted their bodies and did some strange aerobic exercises. Radhika and Rajni saar also followed. Recommendation: Watch Sun TV arnd 3.30 am in the morning - soft porn time but omg wot the fuck are they doing time also!
Next morng, sister msgs me - pls call home as parents r driving her crazzy. So I called - unke dil ko rahat mil gayee..hadn't slept so was freaking tired..did afternoon snooze..had a brilliant salsa class. :D Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.. Did some window shopping with Dee and we drove ourselves crazzy as we didn't have money to go around! Twas nice - went to Geeta Bhavan after so long and didn't eat vada sambhar there..She had our Mango icecream and felt really happy abt it. :D
Went home and did sleep almost imm. Nice weeekend it has been esp coz of no GRE crap hanging on my head like a Damoceles sword! :D

- Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (hope I got that rt) - SB's aunt calls from Cal to tell her to watch Salman Khan on tele. So of course we all watched Mr Khan! Jesus Christ wot a programme first of all. Some 5 permanent judges and 2 celeb judges. This list includes 1 unshaven man, Himes, 2 types calling themselves Hitlist or some such crap and of course BAPPI. Bappi had rhinestone studded glares on (I went and peeked at the tv screen- they were glinting off the lites) This week - Mr Khan and Ms Dutta (looking appropriately serious in a salwar kameez with the headfones on). Sallu was appropriately horrendous too.

Iraq and its consequences
I read this amazing article about the Marines and what they offer as assistance to bereaved families. Its an extremely long article and have been reading it in parts but its so sad and poignant. Almost made me cry at the price people are paying for freeing (?) a place.
When a Marine dies at war, someone called a casualty assistance officer first delivers the news and then helps the family deal with the situation. He is assigned to that family for almost a year to help and be a shoulder to cry on. The toll this takes on the officer obviously should not be discounted. War is ugly and people pay a heavy price for participating in it.

My weekend
Weekend in effect started Friday. Was working from home due to GREgiri going on and well had a marvellous time especially in the evening..The reasons for that include evening tiffin on Fri and my sistah darling.
So idli maav (flour in Tamil) was there..however since sistah and me had been eating idli for the past 2 days, we did minor rebellion. Mom said ok, cut the onions and make da utthapa. So of course I was the grand creator of the utthapa. First try, wot we call nai dosai (dog dosa- I think something to do with the fact that the dog wouldn't eat it) was made and that of course was a perfect one..so buoyed with the success of this, I attempted a proper one for my Pop. The trouble started when I had to do the flipping- the middle bit got stuck to the scraper thingie and so when I flipped my perfect utthapa had a hole in the middle..Needless to say my Pop was speechless..(and he laughed out loud) Dosai was not enuf to feed me, sistah and Momma..so sistah made Maggi and me and she had Maggi and dosai..excellent tiffin..reminded me of this disgusting Maggi bondas which I never conshumed from IIT Shack and which Murty loved!!
Then whilst studying, looked at my sistah who was sitting absolutely lukka in life and lolling on bed. Sup I asked..nothing..am gng to play the guitar now..told her tis the life..playing guitar, sleeping, faffing, going out with man, reading..accha scenes hai.. and I was struggling with fucking quant!!
Saturday dawned for me at 8.30 in the morng..studied the whole day. Nice that was :D Then, salsa class which was not bad and a drink after at CL. :) Came home for dinner and Mom was pleased about that which is good of course. Sunday dawned brite and early at 8.30 am too :) Same routine followed Sunday. :D Studied studied studied...then went for salsa class which was loads of fun yesterday. Everyone got their solo routines right with the correct timing - tres cool that was :)
Grabbed a quick drink and went to see the thought provoking 'Vagina Monologues'. What a fabbuulooous play that was..the actors were superb. They were:
Some of the best monologues were Jayati Bhatia's, purely because they were so funny. She does a wonderful job of making the viewer imagine her situation. Her first impression of a Punjabi woman whose hubby likes shaved vaginas was too much (the audience was in splits) and the 2nd last one of the 'Moaner'- howfuckinglarious...too good she was!
After the play got over, both Dee and me wrote our comments out. Dee said the play made her feel liberated and I have that feeling too. Like somehow listening to 5 women talking about women's vagina's was talking about us and who we are as women in today's society. I can't get over the play and am probably going to have a hangover for sometime. Almost said vaginal hangover but somehow that comes out sounding weird and funny! :D
I recommend the play to one and all and in Sept there is a Hindi version of the play coming out. Must watch I would say!

- Jayati Bhatia (her comic timing is simply amazing)

- Avantika Akerkar (fab impressionist- did accents and voices amazingly well)

My view
I changed place and now look outside with tinted windows. :) Its bootiful right now with the wind blowing crazily. The trees are shaking violently and the rain is pouring down in sheets..its absolutely gorgeous out there..
3 options in this rain:
1. Stand outside and experience the elements
2. Cozy under the sheets
3. Alcohol/chai with bhajis/chiken (yum yum)
I am so glad I am inside the office :)
