Oh fish!

Oh fish!, originally uploaded by Pixychik.

vairy whale
said the fish to the sea
the sea opened her arms
she welcomed the wee one

scary mother you are sometimes
but i don’t intend to be here very long
this is but a fleeting visit
inspired by the man behind the dark side of the moon

that man he sits on the edge with his fishing rod
forlornly
and wishes for an evening star
it comes and twinkles at him

it says vairy whale
why don’t you visit the sea sometime
she seems to long for you

the man looked at the star
a glimmer of recognition shone in his weather-beaten eyes
vairy whale he said
its time i left this land anyway

the man jumped off the moon into the waiting arms of the sea
the world heaved a sigh of relief
the splash that occurred echoed in the corridors of the universe
reverberated across the galaxies
whoooosh it went till every denizen on every planet
felt the same desire

as the man who used to sit behind the dark side of the moon

The Hostess with the Mostest

She stood in the middle of the living room. She was mistress of all she surveyed.

The canapés were ready - their square shapes filled with a tapenade that would melt most people's stomachs. People would relish them - their tongues bursting with flavour.

The 10 year old Scotch stood silently - for its rightful owners to claim its decadent tastes - the rich smell of the peat beckoned even the most jaded connoisseurs.

Her little black dress shimmered with a thousand sequins. Her ears sparkled with flawless uncut rubies. The colour of the Scotch matched the topaz ring on her third finger. He had given it to her as a sign of his undying love for her and the Scotch.

She smiled with satisfaction. It would be a good party.

Iyer & Irene

Iyer and Irene

The names matched

The personalities didn’t

Yet they had an intangible something that held them together

From his veshti to her sleeveless dresses

From his temple to her church

The smiles on their faces

Made most hearts melt

One wondered how it had happened

Where the story lay

It had begun many monsoons ago

A stalled car. Rain pouring down in sheets.

A smile did it all.
